In line with what Paul wrote in his first letter to to the Corinthians, my hope has been to draw in a new audience, an audience that would normally have an aversion to anything hinting of The B-I-B-L-E.
Early on, a good friend of mine agreed to read a pre-release 'proof' copy of my book. He did this as a favor, acknowledging that he would not normally read this kind of a book. After reading The Miracle Free Gospel, he explained that he felt compelled to seek out and read the Gospel According to John, to see how the one sprung out of the other. My friend is an Atheist. It was the humor that hooked him.
Paul wrote, "Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings."
In jest, I have said, "To the Atheist, I have adopted reason. To the worldly, I have adopted sarcasm. For the skeptical, I have removed the mysterious. I do these things for the sake of the gospel, that many will share in the blessings."
